Principal Network Planner (MAN+LAN) - Telecommunications

Job Description

Our firm, Africa-One Consulting has been retained to provide Network Planner (MAN+LAN) - Telecommunications at one of South Africa’s municipality. As such, we are looking for Network Planner (MAN+LAN) in Telecommunications. Preference will be given to candidates with certification

Responsibilities

  • Compile and manage Master plan for Telecommunication
  • Implement Network Services
  • Develop Project Scopes
  • Network Strategy formulation
  • Preparing Business Plans
  • Identify, analyse and drive problems to resolution
  • Maintain strong values of integrity and commitment
  • Utilize network management and troubleshooting tools
  • Ability to research, recommend, and develop implementation of new technology standards and products;
  • Define the growth and sustainability of the network
  • Completion of Design Risk Assessments
  • Completion of construction packs
  • Ensure design meets the clients architectural and technical requirements and standards

Required education:

  • Degree or Advanced Diploma (NQF7) OR relevant vendor industry certification (i.e. Vendor Certified Inter-Network/ Inter-Design Expert such as Cisco, Huawei, Alcatel, Nokia, Juniper, Extreme, etc.) with 3-year post qualification experience

Required experience:

  • 8 years’ experience in a Telecommunications environment IS&T relevant discipline with supervisory experience
  • 6 years specialty and experience in data network planning, circuit design and provisioning with supervisory experience

Core Skills

  • LAN, MAN, MPLS, WiFi Network Planning and Strategy

Other Requirements

  • Relevant networking/design & planning vendor certification
  • Experience with GE Smallworld will be an advantage
  • Technical field experience in network maintenance will be an advantage
  • Experience in large project environments a definite advantage
  • Data Network implementation experience
  • Experience in planning maintenance/upgrade of networks (Metro Area Network and Local Area Network, Network Security)
  • Applicable experience in applying the telecommunication discipline’s functions in a variety of contexts
  • Experience with vendor service level management
  • Utilised network management and troubleshooting tools
  • Practical experience in developing and managing systems that significantly affect the functioning of an organization.
  • Ability to work systematically and accurately in complex settings
  • Ability to work in teams as well as work independently
  • Ability to work under pressure and strict project deadlines
  • Identify, analyse and drive problems to resolution
  • Maintain strong values of integrity and commitment
  • Utilised network management and troubleshooting tools
  • Ability to research, recommend, and develop implementation of new technology standards and products;
  • Good oral communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Microsoft word, Excel level 3, Power Point, Visio.
  • Driver’s license and own vehicle
